So many Asian films (Chinese in particular) can be so over the top, and truly fun diversions from the normalities of American cinema. The thugs then give up and ask to join Sing's team. Chow's films often have weird gender stuff, but it bothers me here more than anywhere else in his filmography. This film contextualizes the boxed in, small minded nature of american cinema. This film could never have been made in america- not just because of the chinese cultural statements attached, but the bold and striking humor which can speak to any audience regardless of origin.

this film is like "Kung Pow: Enter the Fist" but made from the Chinese perspective rather than an American one. no…Does it take you an hour to pick a movie? But I'm glad to be home and spending time with my mom.My dad loved Stephen Chow movies. work in progress. What makes this work is the campy acting and jokes mixed with legitimately entertaining action humor.
