Seemed to be shot throughout with a filter that brightened all the greens to make a cold, damp forest look much more attractive than it really must have been. Just looking for peace and solitude, shouldn`t be too hard.. Excellent film. Foster (who is becoming rather commendable with his work) and McKenzie were sensational together, feeding emotions through just their eyes. Granik utilises plenty of horizonal techniques to illustrate these two characters amongst the overwhelmingly luscious foliage. I agree with other reviewers who praised this film. The last third of the story was filmed at Squaw Mountain Ranch, a family oriented nudist resort outside Estacada, Oregon. The authorities are kind and the people they meet on the ring are also kind but only the girl senses this.
I will not tell you the plot as others have already done that with too much detail. But I was instantly engaged and soon I was all in. Like its two main characters—a father and teen daughter living off the grid in a lush forest park outside of Portland, Ore.—the movie moves as if it hopes to go unnoticed.
